About the League

The Lochmere Wednesday Night Twilight Men’s Golf League consists of 8 teams, with 7 players per team. The teams are organized based on GHIN handicaps. The league features a shotgun start at 4:30pm, alternating between front and back nine starts. The format is strictly match play, with each team facing every other team twice throughout the season. Matches are aligned by GHIN handicap flights, and strokes are awarded based on current handicaps.

The season is divided into two halves: the first half concludes once every team has played against each other, identifying the first half winner by the most match play wins. The season begins in the first week of May, with the first half concluding before July 4. The second half kicks off in mid-July, lasting another 7 weeks, leading up to a championship night post-Labor Day where the winners of each half compete for the league championship, while the next two top teams vie for third place. The league concludes with a banquet and prize night on championship night.

In addition to the main competition, players compete weekly for low gross and low net score prizes within their flights, along with closest to the pin and longest putt awards. Optional prize pools for chip-ins and quota game based blind draws are also available. Following the matches, about two-thirds of the players typically gather in the restaurant for food, drinks, and socializing.
